'Waste Watchers' Holiday Club
Tuesday
17th to Friday 20th February 2009
The
Holiday Club was based around a group of people who wanted to make a difference
in their community. Near where they lived there was a large piece of waste
ground. People dumped all their rubbish there. It was a horrid place, but years
and years ago it was a wild meadow and farmland.
These people got permission to turn this waste ground into somewhere beautiful.
The theme of the Holiday Club Activity was to turn an imaginary rubbish area
into something beautiful and pleasant by using arts and crafts to recycle
rubbish goods into something useful and beautiful.
Each day there were different activities including crafts, games, stories,
songs, drama and refreshments. A light lunch was served for all the family on
Friday Lunchtime.
The club met from 10.00am to 12.00 midday on Tuesday 17th February to
Friday 20th February with a celebration and prizegiving
at 11.00am on Sunday 22nd February.
All the families were invited to join us for a light lunch on the Friday at
12.00 midday and for the Sunday Celebration at 11.00am
A Group of our adult church members helped to organise the club, with Jonathan
as the Club Activity Leader.
The
holiday club was attended by 40 children.
